In order to send email from within the application, the email configuration settings need to be set up in the Install Setting table. This Table is used to set up the e-mail server settings. Generally there are four fields that need to be to be updated by every organization that wants to distribute reports via email.
1- From Email Address – This is the e-mail address that will appear in the “From” field in the resulting e-mail. It should be a valid email account within the active directory server.
2- SMTP – Specify the link to the SMTP server to which your organizations e-mail system corresponds.
3- Port – This is the port in which the SMTP server is run. Usually it is Port 25 (587 for SSL). But there might be a different port in some instances.
4- Report Link – Specify the full Report Writer URL. This is the link back to the Report Writer application that is inserted into e-mails if specified. (Used in e-mails when there are no attachments).
If SSL encryption is utilized then there are three additional entries will need to be added to the InstallSetting table within the Mail category. These are listed in the following table.
1- UseSSL – “true” would be entered in this field. If SSL is not used then there is not a need to add this information to the InstallSetting table.
2- UserID – Specify the full e-mail address of the Active Directory user that has access to the specified port. This is an administrative userID within your domain.
3- Password – The above user’s password. The password should be encrypted when it is added to the table. Be sure that the OptionID says Password before navigation away from the table as the encrypt flag will encrypt all fields.
Note: A relay must be established between the machine hosting the Renovofyi Distribution service IP address and the SMTP server. The SMTP server can be located anywhere.
Note: You can look at the Distribution Log SQL table to find more information about the issue.
